      Serves as Research Leader of the Molecular Plant Pathology Laboratory. Major objectives of his personal research program include understanding the unique characteristics of wall-less prokaryotes--their ecological relationships, molecular genetics and interrelatedness, distinguishing properties in vivo and in vitro, and role in plant disease. Develops means for their detection and identification, thereby enhancing disease control.
