2000 Field Day Winner

Photo of Megan Coyle

Megan Coyle was the winner of the "CAIBL Challenge: Build a Better Bug Trap" held in conjunction with the BARC Field Day in June, 2000. The challenge (which will be an annual event) was to design a trap to catch the milkweed bug using a pheromone lure provided by CAIBL (over 100 lures were given out). Megan called her winning entrant "The Fun in the Sun Milkweed Trap"!

Milkweed Bugs

Eggs, nymphs and adult of the large milkweed bug, Oncopeltus fasciatus, whose pheromone has been identified by CAIBL scientists (Aldrich et al., 1999).
